Hello
My name is Claudia and I’m a registered counsellor, accredited with the BACP. I have over 15 years experience of counselling, specialising in providing online counselling and support, with a special interest in supporting humanitarian and mission personnel in the UK and overseas.
I bring my experience of working in the educational and third sector both here in the UK and in Uganda.
If you are interested in working with me, please email and I’ll be happy to arrange an informal chat or exchange emails to help you decide if I’m the best person to help you at this time.
Warm regards,
Claudia
My approach
I offer a safe space underpinned with unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence, to support clients explore their thoughts, behaviours and emotions in relation to themselves, others and the world. My approach looks at the whole person, taking into account the mind, body, soul and spirit. I believe everyone is unique and as an integrative therapist, I use techniques and tools from different modalities to tailor an approach which works best for each individual client.
Dependant on the issues clients want to talk about, we may work together using a solution focused approach, setting clear goals and considering how you want to achieve them; cognitive behavioural therapy which explores how we think impacts how we feel, the physical sensations we experience, how we behave, perceive others and the world; psychodynamic approaches where I will invite clients to talk about childhood relationships and experiences with parents and other significant people.
My aim is to work collaboratively to help clients understand the root causes and triggers for thoughts and behaviours, so to begin to make choices and develop new ways of doing life, that bring a sense of wholeness. In all my work I consider it ethical good practice to honour the client’s sense of autonomy throughout the course of therapy, particularly when suggesting more structured interventions.
My motivation for counselling is grounded in my Christian faith and a desire to journey with people to find freedom and healing in their lives by exploring the past, present and future. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics and so welcome and work with clients of all backgrounds, including those of faith and those of none.
